Crown thinning started at 26 – what should I do?

I’m 26 years old, and over the last few months I’ve noticed hair thinning around my crown/vertex area. There isn’t a very noticeable problem at the front, but the hair density around my crown has visibly decreased.

Could this be the beginning of male pattern baldness (male pattern baldness)? Has anyone else experienced crown thinning at a young age? What treatments have worked for you? I’d really appreciate hearing about experiences with minoxidil, finasteride, or other treatments.

Try not to panic. Noticing thinning in the crown at 26 can be worrying, but that area can look very different depending on the lighting, hair direction and your natural crown pattern. Take a few photos every couple of months with dry hair, using the same angle and lighting, so you can see whether there is any real progression. A dermatologist can also check for miniaturization with trichoscopy. If it turns out to be early male pattern hair loss, treatments such as finasteride or minoxidil may be worth discussing, but it is better not to start anything just because it worked for someone else online. Right now, the most important thing is to understand what is happening and protect the hair you already have. There is no need to rush into a hair transplant.
