Crown Thinning More As Of Lately. Feeling Discouraged

Hello. I will start off by telling you about myself. My crown started thinning back around 2004 or so. I was about 20 at the time. My derm suggested I try propecia and I have been taking it ever since. I switched to generic form about 3 years ago. I also started using minoxidil about 10 years ago. I never really re-grew any hair. But I wasn't really losing any more either. This went on for many years. I mostly wear hats. I just like them. But when I would style my hair I'd use topix. Only took a little bit and once my hair was styled you could not tell my crown was thinning out or that I had a bald spot. The bald spot remained but it was not that bad. I could live with it. But starting this spring till now it is a lot more noticeable. The surrounding hair use to cover and conceal the spot pretty good. Especially after using topix. I have never had any thinning or receding on the front of my scalp. And other then the bald spot my hair is pretty thick. Which makes the spot stand out even more. It's just discouraging. I guess nothing last forever. But between the minoxidil and the finasteride I was holding on to what I had and was hoping I could do this for many more years. I recently started nizoral shampoo (started a week ago) I guess I should of started that earlier on. But I really never needed to. Also recently I was on the receiving end of a bad haircut which makes it even more noticible.

Never had any major sides from the propeica. So that was a plus.

My questions are what could of happened? I know it's not entirely possible to say. But just looking for suggestions. Did my body get use to the finasteride? Maybe it lost its effectiveness? Does it look like I am to far gone for the big 3 to work? On the Norwood what would I be? As I said my frontal hairline and the rest of my head is full and thick for now. I have not had any phases of shedding that were really notable until now. I do not have pics of before when the spot was less thin. But I am posting recent ones from today

I am 34 years old. I'm not ready to lose my hair. I am going to use the big 3 for the next year (and longer) and see if I can get back some of what was there not to long ago.

You have really good density around the crown. Have you talked to a transplant specialist about just filling in that area? How long have you noticed the crown has been worsening? How long did it take to get to that level?

Well I have been taking finasteride for many years. I added in minoxidil a long time ago as well. For a long time. I'd say like 13 years or more I only had a small bald spot. The spot was pretty easy to conceal up until this spring. The past 3 months I have noticed it has started to thin more and became far more notable. I don't understand what happened. Maybe the finasteride lost its effectiveness on me? I haven't talked to a surgeon because I can't really afford a transplant. Plus the whole idea kind of scares me. I was hoping to try and stop this and see if I can save some of what's left or maybe even regrow some. I know nothing but a transplant will fill it in. I'm at a crossroads here I guess. I really don't know what to do.
