Crown thinning at 44 did anyone else start like this?

I’m 44 and recently noticed visible thinning around my crown. The front and hairline still seem relatively dense, but under direct light the crown looks noticeably thinner, and I can see more scalp than before.

I’m not sure how quickly it has progressed because I never used to photograph the top of my head. I’ve booked a dermatology consultation to confirm whether this is androgenetic alopecia and to discuss treatment options.

Has anyone here started with a similar pattern, mainly thinning at the crown while the front still looked okay? Did you manage to stabilise it or regain any density with minoxidil or finasterida? Any advice would be helpful...thank you

This is androgenetic alopecia. And judging by the photo, it's been progressing steadily! For many men, it starts at the front hairline; for others, it starts at the crown! And some have androgenetic alopecia on both the crown and the front hairline. Your follicles are sensitive to testosterone.

Finasteride will not remove testosterone from your hormonal system. Finasteride will increase its production, and some of it will be converted into estradiol, thereby preventing further androgenetic alopecia. Gynecomastia may occur. It's normal for estradiol to be more prevalent in order to preserve hair growth.

Thank you my friend. I already have an appointment with a proper doctor. I will see if he advises to start minoxidil again and finasteride. Right now I am not sure what to do...

I will, thank you!
Hi i’ve been on finestranide 5mg cut up into 4 segments and a segment a day and minoxidil lotion since i was 24 im now 59 next week.
I still have a good hairline and head of hair.
Recently been on minoxidil tablets also just as a back up.Im here for a good time not a long time so it’s important to me.
Top you hair up with some thickening fibres/ spray to give you instant confidence using the lotion before applying the fibres -good luck

Have you noticed androgenetic alopecia since you were 24?

No just kept what i had only added the minoxidil tablets over the last few years as a precaution.I have never been a bloke with masses of body hair and never had a beard.
I have been using Minoxidil max from America and managed to grow a bit of a beard it getting thicker all the time my missus can’t believe it.
