Is there hope for me? I have had really low self-esteem over my thinning crown and started using rogaine 1x day (every night) back in February to see if it could help thicken up my crown but so far there's no improvement .... I went to a dermatologist today for the first time and he prescribed me propecia... will this be the answer?

If you're 27 then just take finasteride for at least 6 months, most probably you'll see stop of hairloss and maybe some regrowth.
However, watch out for the sides effects. If you don't have any sides but your haid has no improvement atall , you can try dutasteride.
I am 20 and quite worried about having to take finasteride, but I'm gonna try and see how it goes.

Yes there is hope for you. It appears that you may have caught it early enough that you should be able to stop the loss and possibly regrow some hair. Get your script filled asap and start taking it daily. Fighting male pattern baldness takes dedication. If you're willing... This is a battle you can win.
