Cowlick Or Balding At The Crown Age 29

I'm 29. I've always had a cowlick on my crown of my head. I remember a little girl in 5th grade who said I was balding. The teacher said "oh that's just a cowlick."

Now as an adult, I'm wondering if I'm loosing hair at the crown, or because of my very long hair that parts in addition to the cowlick, appears as balding.

Thanks you guys, this is my first post and I'm freaking out a little. If it is male pattern baldness, I'll just shave it all off.

Don't mind the Ruger LCR in the pics lol, I have my CCW permit and I always take it out when sitting down in my bathroom which has the best soft lighting for my pics.

Yeah, I'm afraid to tell you that's balding. It's too centered and too widely thin to be a cowlick.

I would, of course, suggest at least Rogaine (which works best for the crown). I don't know what the rest of your hair looks like, but it seems decent, so you might not want to jump the gun in shaving it all.

Damn man, that's hard to take. I appreciate your candidness.

Isn't it the worse thing in the world ..

At least you have a hairline still. Buzzing will make you look better most likely.

I'm a hardcore receder. Crown is just starting to go. Shaving my head will make me look way worse with my hairline.

Any second opinions?

My girlfriend said that since my hair is so heavy, that's just how it parts, etc. She's really insisting I'm not bakdint and going crazy. But I'm no expert on the matter.

Yeah, for women balding is "NW3V+" (with lower Norwoods they only notice on a subconscious level).

You are clearly balding, your hairline is also thinning badly, though I don´t think you should buzz, but rather get on Finasteride.

Bruh the guy has very minor hair line recession lol.

OP I would just get on Finasteride to thicken up your crown and help you maintain your current hairline.

You are balding. Your girlfriend is kind of oblivious to it - as Iggy said, non-norwood spotters (aka people not balding) don't really tend to notice balding before the NW3+ point, depending on the individual.

There's your good news. Even if you are balding, it's looking good still, because people don't notice it. Your cowlick area only pretty much looks bad under shitty lighting, and even then only from a certain angle.

I'd just get on finasteride alone. Maintenance with a little potential for regrowth or thickening is all you need. No need to go for anything drastic like buzzing, unless that's what you want OP. Good luck.
