Very worrying that they got into pharmacies.

Although in theory 'counterfeit' Propecia doesn't necessarily mean that it didn't contain 1mg of finasteride, it's probably quite obvious it didn't.

I'm hoping that as I got generic proscar from a Doctor it wouldn't be affected.

It is worth noting that this appears to be counterfeit brand name drugs, where there's obviously significantly more profit to be made. A month of Finax costs about $2 from a pharmacy in India.

So does that mean generics such as finpecia, finax, fincar are safe to buy because it would be dumb to manufacture fakes as they are cheap anyway....

Wow, what a sentence... he should be out of our brutal prison system in two-and-a-half years. A broken man no doubt; committed to a path of righteousness from then on. That's why despite being a foreign national we won't bother to deport him, that and the inevitable breach of his EU-defined 'human rights' which such an act would entail.

Mind you, Kingston Crown Court is doing brisk business these days. Often hear of high(ish) profile cases tried there; makes me glad I'm no longer within range of a jury duty call up - though the gradual infusion of scum from other London boroughs is a stronger deterrent to the area.

Counterfit medication is already a huge problem in China and other nations. Forget for a second about boner and hair pills.... think about meds for serious diseases. It can cost lifes. this is fuked up.

Would make sense.. I thought this case was generics being passed off as Merck/whatever stuff anyway. Seems rather large-scale so who knows.. -_-

It is. This story was posted when they were first busted. They were taking real generic drugs made in India etc. and passing them off as brand named v**** etc. for a tremendous profit. The drugs were real but were misrepresented.

Correct me if I'm wrong but counterfeit doesn't necessarily mean "fake" as in the dosages aren't what they're supposed to be.

Wikipedia states that it can mean the "imitations of clothing, software, pharmaceuticals, etc..." so basically a counterfeit Rolex is still a watch just like in this case the counterfeit Propecia was still finasteride. I think they tested some of the pills and they came back with roughly 95% of the active ingredient.

This probably isn't the case in most counterfeiting schemes I'm guessing. I think in most cases the drugs are fake with no active ingredient at all.

well frankly it's a problem that would exist as long as the medication is expensive, i remember this being on mock of the week and being told that counterfeit v**** cost 25p each, i would imagine torisel being a more counterfeited drug though on the other hand i would probably kill someone if i found them selling fake torisel

so the best way to prevent counterfeits is to make the real thing cheap  i mean you would have a hard time finding counterfeit paracetamol

Can you imagine this being ONE the reasons for some of our "sheds"?
Every now and then we come across a counterfeit box of Propecia?

IMO its best to get finasteride from a real doctor if possible. Its cheaper.
