this might not be the case for you, but i went to a derm on what i thought was ringworm and maybe suspected male pattern baldness, turned out to be folliculitis and not anything else, however, since i left the folliculitis untreated, it has caused little bald spots over my head, on the sides, and top, the derm did say that it should grow back in a couple months, but heres some pics on what my little spots look like..

and when my hair is longer it hides the little spots good

Have you been under any stress lately? It could be Telogen Effluvium (Telogen Effluvium). Otherwise your hair looks fine man, you're a NW1, take care of it. :punk:

Well I am no doctor but have you also noticed a decreased density in your scalp hair?

I'd say it's about a NW2 or close to it. (Mature hairline)

those dots in the scalp dont mean its a mature hairline im pretty sure of that

If this is NW2, why are so many people worried about it? It looks totally okay. I must have NW3 already then :(.

I was referring to Kerzyguy's hairline when I said NW2. Maybe it's only NW1.5. I have noticed people on these forums can never agree on exactly what a NW2 means.

my hair is nw2, but yeah, folliculitis starts off as a redish boyle on the scalp, but when the hair falls out, and the red goes away, it leaves a small bald spot where the hair grows back eventually, and yes, there is a cure for it, acutane or minocycline clears it up.

but i mean, ive been to both my family dcotor and a derm, and they looked it over, and they said its def NOT male pattern baldness, but folliculitis, and i was on acutane for a bit, but i was allergic or soemthing to it, so they put me on minocycline, its definatly helping, but yeah, with it theres no decrease in density or anything like that, just red bumps with a fluid inside, the derm told me it can be caused by either a really weak immune system or one thats too strong(kills off good bacteria on scalp and drops its hair as defense), so if you have diabeties, or hiv or aids lol, those are possiblities why, if u actually have folliculitis, they are reasons y u have it. on a good note its curable, and within 3 months should be cleared completly. i suggest going to a derm to see whats up.

thanks a lot for the response well i dont have hiv, aids or any of that for sure but diabeties runs through my family a lot so i probley got it now need 2 check myself anyways there is no way it can be alopecia areata though right i mean you didnt even see my scalp because i dont have pictures but its 99% the same as yours just little ones because alopecia areata sheds quick in big patches am i right? all i care is that its not alopecia areata

If you feel you're thinning then move quickly. Start finasteride right now.

Don't listen to IBM. He's basically a troll who loves to push pills on everyone. There's no point in taking finasteride if you don't have some sort of male pattern hair loss. It won't work against alopecia areata, folliculitis etc, but you might still get the side effects.
