Could reduced salt intake cause hair loss?

Hey guys,

I am 36 and for the last 3-4 months I have been shedding hair at a high rate. I can see thinning in the front half of top of my head but my hairline has not changed much (maybe 1/8 of an inch). Every morning when washing my hair I see about 40-50 hair fall off with the shampoo.

I am wondering if this is just a normal genetic hair loss. I drastically reduced my salt intake around 5 months ago. Before that I used to add a lot of table salt to all my foods. Could my hair loss be caused by reduced iodine or sodium intake?

Thanks

well, low thyroid can cause hair loss, and an iodine deficiency can contribute to that

Extremely highly unlikely.
