The positive effect that finasteride has on your hair will start declining after 2-3 years. But studies show that men who responded well to finasteride had more hair than when they started after 5 years of treatment. Guessing hair counts after 15 years would be speculative. But needless to say, you would still have more hair than if you never took the drug.

Oh, now I got your point. The post above has already answered that.
You can always add a new drug/increase the dosage when finasteride isn't keeping your hair anymore.
You can use 5mg Finasteride, dutasteride, topical antiandrogenic, etc. Also, Minoxidil.

If you use Minoxidil + finasteride...CONSISTENTLY (key word here) you could have a nice head o hair for a very long time.

As my doctor says: Persistency is the soul of the treatment.
You should take your finasteride pill everyday at the same time, you should use Minoxidil twice a day in a break of 12hours of each application, you should use Nizoral 3x a week (leaving at least 8-10 minutes in scalp) and so on.
