Hey I was just wondering if some of my Canadian brothers can help me out. I got a Prescription for Propecia from my derm and wondering how much it would cost per month to have it filled at a place like Shoppers Drug Mart or IDA.

If anyone could help me out that would be great. thanks.

Hi YoungAndThin:

Propecia (1 mg) was too pricey for me, so I am using Proscar (5 mg pill cut into 1/4's - 1.25mg each). I don't have the bill in front of me, but the cost of 100 Proscar pills was approximately $180 CAD (this is enough medication for a full year when cut in 1/4's).

hey Rob did your doctor give u a script for Proscar or did you buy it online?

I don't know why but my derm didn't want to give me a proscar prescription.

YoungAndThin:

After reviewing the two meds, my GP gave me the Proscar prescription. I was doublely lucky in that company benefits actually covered the prescription (they do NOT cover Propecia).

wow $80?!? I was told by my derm that it would average out to about $60 a month.

If you can afford a cup of coffee a day you can afford Propecia, is what she told me.

he VWDude I just had my prescription for brand name Merck Propecia filled at my local walmart and 3 months only came up to around $157 CAD. That comes out to about $57 a month.

Maybe you should check out Wal-mart

Hope this helps. I've only ever been on the generic, Propecia, and for me it works really well. Our insurance doesn't cover the name brand...I wonder how expensive the name brand is as opposed to the generic...
Dang , your lucky your insurance even covers it!
