Currently on 1.25. Would there be any difference if i increased this to 2.5 for example at take half instead of a quater. I know you shouldnt really mess with the intake too much as i know the body in sensetive to changes even as small as this. Just wondering if anyone had any success though in increased intake. Thanks for any response. Please post if anyone has any history or knows of experience.

Thank you

Adam

Hi, firsty thank you for helping.

Been on poscar now (1.25) for about 7 months and rogaine twice a day with nizoral twice a week. I havent noticed that much improvement and no regrowth what so ever, i have a receding hairline and am a nw2. Im considering increasing daily dose up to half a tablet instead of quater and just see how i go, also considering using spironolactone S5 and see how i get on with that or possibly a change of minoxidil to 15%.

Your thoughts please? Thanks again for any help

Clinical trials have shown as high as 5mg actually regrew considerable more hair than 1 mg did, and 5mg dose of finasteride was as good as one dose of dutasteride (,5mg, I think). So, yes, it is well documented that higher dose finasteride did help a lot more or at least quicker with hair benefits than a lower dose of finasteride did

You should allow much more time for finasteride to work imho. I'm sure you have read it often but it is true. I'm starting to see real improvement at month 15. And I have thought about changes to my regimen for a long time. Seriously it takes a long time to work. You will continue to see improvement if you are patient enough! I'm talking 2-3years...

Thanks guys, well its trial and error, but i agree you need to give finasteride over 12 months to see what is going on so i still have 5 months to go minimum. Think i might test spironolactone s5 as well and see how i get on. I think alot of us pray that we get the amazing results that 5% of users get in the first 4 months, but it just doesnt happen to the 95% of us for at least 12+ months if we do regrow or maintain hair.

I will go with 2.5 and see how i get on in the next 4 months.

Thanks for helping.

increasing finasteride more than 1mg won't make a difference. merck tried up to 80mg of finasterid ein one of there studies and brought dht down to the same level as the lower doses

DR. WALDSTRAICHER:
Let me just share some experience that we’ve had with finasteride, which is the
Type II inhibitor, obviously, that we’re discussing today. Over the years, we
have gone up to very high doses of finasteride for the development of Proscar,
our 5-milligram dose. Even up to 80 milligrams of finasteride, you don’t
actually get more than about the same 70 percent suppression in DHT that you get
with even lower doses of finasteride.

I don’t understand why people take more than 1mg lol

Yes DHT is similar but what is the effect of higher% staying in the body longer per day?
