Consider This?

I've read in articles and on websites that if you stop your finasteride you return to your pre-treatment state in about 1 year. What does this mean exactly....consider the following example:

I am 24 years old and I start taking finasteride for 6 years. Let's say that during this time I keep most of my existing hair and maybe grow a little more back. Now when I am 30, I discontinue finasteride for a year.
Does this mean:
A) After a year off of finasteride, I will go back to my hairline of 24 years old (pretreatment state??)
OR
B) After a year off of finasteride, I will go the hairline I would have had at 30 had I never been on finasteride in the first place.

Thanks for any input in advance guys.

If you stop taking the finasteride your hair will go back to how it is before you started taking it.

If you had a little hairloss before you started finasteride, and regrew it, then you stopped taking finasteride the hair you regrew will fall out.

Finasteride doesnt really grow hair it just prevents hair from falling out. If you want to regrow hair you need minoxidil 5%.

Hey

Once you stop taking finasteride, most likely, you will lose hair up to your current DHT receptiveness. What I mean by this is that if your hair continues to become more and more susceptible to DHT, then you will lose more hair when you come off the finasteride and reintroduce DHT to your follicles.

Incorrect sir. Propecia does/will regrow hair. While it may be slightly worse for regrowing hair compared to Rogaine, it is much better for keeping your hair. If I had to rate them I would say.

Scale from 1 to 10

Regrowth-
Propecia 5
Rogaine 6.5

Fighting hairloss
Propecia 8.5
Rogaine 5.5

Draw your own conclusions.

Finasteride is very good at thickening and coarsening existing thin hair.

"Regrowth" is generally misinterpreted - any hair that is stimulated back to normalcy was originally there and had been miniaturized by the mechanism of male pattern baldness.

The chances of growing hair where you've never had any, (or haven't for like a decade) for example, is very, very slim.

I would rate Finasteride as a 7 for "regrowth" (improvement), given my personal experience. And yes, it is much better at preventing further loss than Minoxidil.

You got the Latina fever, my friend.

minoxidil did not help me save existing hairs. The healthy hair around it got bigger and thicker but hair also thinned out in the front and would not heed no matter how much minoxidil I used. Then the lights went off and that is when I said "Yes I must add a DHT inhibitor.
