Confusion about Azelaic Acid?

So I would like to try and incorpoate Azelaic Acid into my regimen, which right now consists of Finesteridae once a day, and generic minoxidil from Target 1ml twice a day.

I asked a compounding pharmacist at New London Pharmacy in NYC to compound a liquid minodoxil (5 or 8%) with Azelaic acid for me. The pharmacist said that using the Azelaic acid everyday would cause peeling of the scalp, and that used too often would destroy (burn up) any new growth you might have.
She also said that it acts by clearing a layer off the scalp to allow minoxidil to penetrate better, and does not do anything to inhibit DHT. From this info it sounds like it working more the retinol-a route.

Any thoughts about this? This is the first time I am hearing this, and because its from a trainer professional who is not pushing a product, I feel she is speaking the truth. Anyone with experience compounding minoxidil with aa. We did not even get to discuss the percentage of AA, but if she were to make it for me, she would make it sep from the minoxidil to be used 2-3 times per week.

Azelaic acid wont burn up, or cause any growth to fall out. What evidence did the pharmacist base that on? Having said that I don't know if Azelaic Acid really benefits hair. I know the Belgravia Centre in London use minoxidil with AA in it, and they might know something we don't but im sceptical. Your blocking DHT on finasteride and increasing PGE2 with minoxidil so I don't see that need why you want to incorporate Azelaic Acid too. If you want faster results try 10% minoxidil.

Is minoxidil really dose dependent? Do you think it would work better than the 5%?

The pharmacist told me she had made a batch of the azalaic acid for a patient who like al of us, read about it online, and wanted her to compound a minoxidil/AA combo, and it ended up burning the patients scalp and new hairs. I trust what she is saying, as I had her make me a 10% minoxidil and warned me that the minoxidil is only soluble up to 8% and will crystallize out of solution above that and so said so done, the 10% i bought had a lot of insoluble crystals at the bottom.
