OK so I am paralyzed from the neck down, a complete injury meaning I have no sensation or motor below my injury. So obviously I don't have any sexual function, I can't feel my dick or my testicles, I can't ejaculate, and obviously I have erectile dysfunction. Different from see I will get a reflex erection from any kind of touch , But it will not last for sexual intercourse so I have to use v**** I also will not get erection from anything visual just part of the injury. I'd say my libido is normal, but I don't get as aroused anymore hard to explain. Anyways I'm obviously concerned taking Finn with the potential for sexual side effectsfor a few reasons. One, because of my already sexual dysfunction maybe I'm more likely to be affected negatively by the drug. Two I don't have much to work with as it is, and three because of my lack of sensation and function I actually probably won't know if anything is going wrong or different.

healing my injury is priority number one, But sciences far off. But going bald and being a cripple is not an option. The only thing I have is a decent face and nice hair long and curly the girls always complement but I can see its thinning I have to do something, what do you guys think? But then again the way my sexual function is now is unlivable, I'm just waiting on a clinical trial, so if I made it worse or even more unrepairable I'm screwed.

Hey Greybeer,
I am sincerely sorry about every thing you've been through. I can't even imagine man. But, you don't want sympathy, you want advice. No one on here can tell you how you will respond to finasteride. The only thing we know, is that it definitely can cause an altering of libido in some people. This is a very well documented side effect. If you are already concerned about that aspect of your life, then my personal advice would be to stay away from it, and seek alternative treatment. Minoxidil might work well for you. There are also some experimental topicals that several have reported positive results on, such as RU. I don't know if you want to head down that road, but perhaps. The absolute best thing you can do is talk to a well respected physician and weight your options. You can read every single story about finasteride, every research article and even the published papers, but - the fact is, you DO NOT know how your individual physiology will react to the medication. Good luck and we are here for you brother. :)

Thanks, But yes let's keep it simple and on-topic

Libido is the least concerning, As that is something that is certain to return if I stopped correct? if we compare it to majority of people that report losing sex drive after taking the drug. But I'm scared boat is permanent problems with the penis mainly erection issues.

i do take minoxidil I think it was showing regrowth what I was doing it twice a day, but I cut back to once a day no specific reason and it doesn't seem to show much results. I think my right temple is a little thinner i've been using it for at least six months though and results seem to come quickly and disappear. I do have pictures ..could Using it once a day instead of twice really have that kind of impact. I also use ramatroban from iron Dragon

There are reports on people who have no libido whatsoever even after discontinuing the drug; however, most people's libido goes back to normal if they stop taking finasteride.

Hey Greybeer,

I was reluctant to try Propecia at first. Like most people I trawled forums and scared myself s h i t less and delayed starting treatment.

I was a diffused Norwood 3 and heading to the point of no return and it has to be said that I've managed to hold on. I've been on Propecia now for 4 years and it's been a slow process to say the least. I'd say that in the last 12 months the hair is finally now, as robust as other non affected areas. I have nothing but positive things to say (hope it stays that way). I'm 44 and my libido has never been better;I must add that I also try to lead a healthy lifestyle.

One thing I do regret is using Rogaine which I stopped 3 years ago: constant shedding, puffy face, and tons of body hair. This is just a personal experience, I appreciate that others have no problems with it.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I just thought I'd throw some positive feedback your way.

Seems that the large majority don't run into problems, more importantly the people that don't run into problems are less likely to come onto a fourm to say how good it works compared to someone that has really bad side effects almost 100% of the time they come here to freak out and hopefully get help. It's just in the off chance that I am the unlucky minority I won't know what's happening potential he because I don't have sensation.

I just wonder are these PGD 2 antagonists enough for me to maintain what I got. I actually do want to start finasteride it's just with my already inhibited sexual function, it's really unknown territory

What you've said there is 100% correct. I would say there is far more at stake with a man in your situation; chances are it may not change a thing, then again......

It's a risk that only you can decide on.

In terms of other treatments. I use a shampoo that either contains Ketoconzole or Piroctone Olamine that combat micro inflammation of the scalp. I use a combination of two shampoos that contains either. I don't use Nizoral as it dries my scalp to no end and irritates it more. I also use Stemoxydine, people say it's a scam, I beg to differ. It's strengthened my hair. I also eat well.

It's hard to tell whether people are right sides are very real, Or the other people are correct and it's all in their head or other factors. Watery sperm seems pretty common, I just worry about that because I can't ejaculate now so I wouldn't know if that was happening and I wonder about it settling

A lot of people just pop a pill and go about their day never to even see this part of the web. Reminds me of a friend of mine, 36 now, with a full head of curly hair. Father as bald as Mr. Clean. When I first started losing he was talking about finasteride. I said to him "Doesn't that thing cause side effects? penis problems etc". He was like really? it does? I've been taking it for 5 years, and my boners work fine.

He legit had no idea it could even cause side effects, probably went to his GP when he first started losing, got prescribed on the spot, and didn't even know side effects were possible. Never bothered to even read about it on the internet.

A few sides that were real for me were ball ache and less morning wood. You cant fake that.

Weaker erections, though, may have been in the head.

That was me. I believe majority of finasteride users are like this.

This year I became self conscious about it and my life made a turn to worse.. :-(
