Give yourself some time to discover all the new features. Please do me a favor and dont start CC'ing tons of people on Private Messages. Make sure the person wants to be getting the message first! On other boards Ive ended up with 40 in my inbox because people keep hitting "Reply to All". Use proper email etiquette with this.

Colors might be tweeked a bit in the coming days, things will be fine tuned. Ill get that "View Posts Since your Last Visit" link back up...

So what do you all think?

Overall I like the new look I have to get used to the font though, seems smaller or thinner then it was before.

Btw: Searching doesn't seem to work.

here were the two things i hated about old forum, and am unaware if i will hate the same with new one.

1. if someone posts a long link, it doesnt wrap. meaning it is impossible to read half the text on the page without scrolling sideways back and forth again and again the whole way down. makes me want to hurt myself.

2. blocking certain users posts so i cant see them. too many threads get degraded to nothing useful due to wankers mouthing off at each other about random nonsensical bullshite, destroying the actual subject and usefulness of the thread itself.

You wont hate this on the new forum. Its been fixed. Long URLs are now truncated automatically, but still take you to the proper location. For example, this URL is fairly long, but wont display as such: http://www.amazon.com/Complaint-Free-Wo ... 551&sr=8-2

There is now a "Friends and Foes" list you can add which hides posts from people who annoy you. :mrgreen:

Make sure you read the new features list in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=40884 Its got most things listed there.

Also discussed in the link above. Some of the old customizations we did to the forum will be re-added over the next week or two. Got to reserve some time with the programmer, and he'll begin knocking them out.

Yep. We have daily complete backups of the entire site and all databases.

Search is not working

We needed to upgrade our MYSQL in order for the search index to be built. That should be completed today. The new search is so much better than the last.

In general I am a creature of habit, so I tend not to like sudden changes, especially changes which produce no clear and obvious benefit that I can see.

One complaint I have: clicking on a user-provided link used to open the page in a separate window. Now, it doesn't. I find that very annoying, because I like to have it open for reading at the same time that I'm posting about it separately, and I'd rather not have to REMEMBER to open it in a separate window. Can you put it back the way it was?

Also, what happened to the "wink" smiley?? It's GONE!!! :freaked2:

The link in a new window thing is going to take till tomorrow unfortunately. Need to make some coding changes. What happened to your avatar? Was it broken on the old forums too?

Not to ME, it doesn't. It's been telling me that I'm "offline" all evening. In fact, yours _was_ saying that you're online, but now it's switched over to saying that you're offline. I believe you're still online, judging by your recent posts.

People can hide theirs to say offline if they dont want people to know they're currently online.

I think I've seen only ONE other person (besides you) listed as being "online". I think that function is broken.

What happened to your avatar? Was it broken on the old forums too?

Okay its not broken. I figured it out. I am admin so I can see when everyone is actually online. You have your settings set to hide your online status. Its been that way since the other forum. So your thing will always say you're offline. Same will go with others who have set their profile settings that way.

Session time is 5 mins so I went idle for about 20 mins there, and it probably switched me to offline. It should now say online, assuming you see this before i close down and go to sleep.

Nope, that ain't it, because I specifically went and changed it back to NOT hide my online status. I'm STILL seeing myself as offline.
