Cold feet + hands = bad blood flow. But what about hair loss

Hi All,

I think this is my second post here, so Im a newbie to all this, but here goes. I have been taking finasteride/propecia and minoxidil for about 4 months now and I have not noticed any results as of yet (nor any sides, which is good). I know that I have to wait a little, so I'm not giving up just yet but there are a few things that I wonder about, that hopefully you guys can help with.

The first thing is that I have (and always have had) pretty bad circulation in my hands and feet. Here in the UK its pretty damn cold right now, but I am certainly feeling the cold more than others.

My hand will go white and freeze, to the point where my GF doesn't like me touching her, they are so cold (at least I think that's why she don't like me touching her, lol). Also, my feet are usually freezing, except at night in bed where they become red hot and feel swollen. On top of this I feel like I am paler than most people (and that's a big statement, as the rest of the native UK population ain't exactly golden brown :).

I know that blood flow to the head helps with hair growth, so I wonder if my general circulation could do with a boost somehow. If so, how do I do this, besides exercise (I run 3 times a week, and cycle to work every day so I am pretty fit).

The second thing is that I don't actually know if I am loosing my hair. I know this is a strange comment, but I have never "shed" any hair, and I can grow hair all over my head, its just very thin (I think you guys call it diffused or something).

So I am not sure, if I should be taking the finasteride as I read this is usually about keeping hair and not thickening hair? I know my Doctor/derm should advise this, but I foolishly went to a expensive clinic, which I believe are just a bunch of sales men that oversold me stuff I can buy online, so I dont trust their advise.

Any advice welcome.

Cheers, Chris

Sounds like a thyroid issue.

Got to stop the thyroid madness website. Very helpful about all things thyroid related. In the UK we don't do the proper tests for hypo so make sure you ask for them.

Natural desiccated thyroid is the best.

Should help your hair as well.

Im exactly the same as you down to the gf comment haha. My hands and feet are always really cold but that I believe is mostly due to me being underweight because of my insane metabolism.

Ive took 2 basic thyroid tests but both came back around 3-4 so it seems ok. My grandma and my dad both had thyroid disease so I suspected I had it to but the tests show otherwise.

My moms fathers side is all bald and my dad side has all their hair so maybe thats why im balding but not at the same degree as my moms side.

Exercise/weightlifting if you're not doing that already.

Many supplements out there for circulation(and thyroid)....this is an interesting one: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/heal...d-flow-supplement-keeps-platelets-smooth.html

Others...

http://www.swansonvitamins.com/Search?keyword=circulation&doSearch=true&ntt=&n=0&ntk=Level1&x=0&y=0

http://www.iherb.com/Search?kw=circulation

Obviously....a search for "thyroid" would bring up supplements for that area...
