There's been lots of talk about finasteride causing this so-called "Reflex Hyperandrogenicity" with symptoms such as itching scalp, libido boost etc.

Now, where I'm getting here is that last year I started finasteride on June 9th. My scalp skin was really f*****g bad about a month later, and I lost shitloads of hair. I had started Liquid minoxidil a little before that so I assumed that it was causing the itch and the loss. However, I was off finasteride for a month around March-April this year. I started it again on April 26th. Now, a month after my scalp is once again hurting like hell and I'm losing shitloads of hair. I am using the Foam aswell, but the scalp pain also happens in areas where I don't apply the foam! I also noticed the libido boost effect, especially around a week after starting the finasteride. Could it be that finasteride is causing this sh*t? Should I stop it?

Consider copper peptides.

They're so damn expensive! Tricomin and Folligen spray costs about 30 euros + postal fees which make it a good 40 euros. That's more than I'm paying for a years batch of finasteride!

The libido boost effect is more of a product of upregulation - your body freaks out and tries to compensate for finasteride's effects by producing more testosterone. The body can't sustain this, however, and it goes down.

Happened to me..I felt like a 15 year old again my first 2 weeks on finasteride. Since then the libido has plunged. If your libido boost last longer than 1-2 weeks, then I might consider hyperandrogenicity...but what you're experiencing isn't uncommon from all the research I've done (and I read on here much more than I post, fyi).

Reflex Hyperandrogenicity as per my thoughts on other threads could be the reason some of us continue to see our hair degrade.

The sides from finasteride even though I dropped my dose after a couple of months still remain - Acne on back, tiredness and high libido.

The hairline is also most sensitive to testosterone raise I believe and thats where i'm continuing to have problems as it is disappearing fast. finasteride manybe inhibiting DHT but I think my testosterone uplift is outweighing it and making the loss worse.

Of course we are all guessing really looking for an answer but after 6 months I think should have seen a slowdown by now.

I'm thinking of dropping finasteride for a couple of weeks and see how it goes, I can soon tell as I see 50+ hairs in my brush after every time I wash it...if that decreases then I would know.

Nick4441, I've lost like 50% of my hair during this past year while I've been on finasteride. I know it's in my genes since my bro has experienced the same kinda loss, but still the finasteride doesn't seem to do much for me. I was on 1.25 mg per day for 9 months, then I started using it more randomly since it gives me chest pains around my nipples. All I can say is that my scalp was never this bad before I started finasteride. My bro says that his scalp is ok most of the time although he's losing it aswell.
