Hi everyone, sorry if this post is in the wrong section or if it doesn't obtain to this site.
I'm a 29 yr old white male in good health with a weird hair condition that has baffled me over the past 5 yrs. My normal hair from birth to 24 yrs of age was straight and smooth feeling. In 2005/2006 my hair started to get coarse, kinky, and dry for what reason I don't know. First I thought is was heredity playing a role, but no one in my family has hair like mine. Ive looked at my parents hair, my brothers, grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, no one has hair like mine.
Also since my hair changed to being coarse/kinky I have had dandruff issues that have to be incorporated with the change of my hair texture. Its like my follicles have changed shape. Yesterday I decided to pluck a hair so I can get a better look at the shape and I was surprised the the hair was flat like a ribbon.
I forgot to mention that this all started in the summer of 2005 when I gave myself a buzz cut throughout the summer. Just seems weird this all started after buzzing my hair all summer, but I wouldn't think a buzz cut would change my hair follicles.
Sorry if this all sounds confusing but I am hoping that someone on here has an answer for why this is happening. Thanks for any advice.
