Hi Guys,
Just want to get an info on shedding hairs from the scalp..Age 27.. I visited a doctor (Dermatologist) for my hair loss problem (facing last 3 months after coming to new location for job change) and has been diagnosed with Androgenetic Alopecia.
He didnt even tell me that this the Androgenetic Alopecia (Pattern hair loss) and just seen my crown for a sec and started to write the prescription.. In the prescription, there was 5% minoxidil and 10mg biotin (trichoton forte) daily.. I am not blaming the derm, but in India it seems if a person is losing his hair, all doctors just straightly start prescribing the minoxidil/finasteride/caffeine shampoo...Its seems even if a person with nutritional deficiency with hair loss goes to doctor means, always the prescription will be minoxidil/etc... I was just only taking 10mg biotin daily for last month.. it seems the amount of shedding reduced but now a days shedding more thin/weak/short hairs with 2-3 cm in length along with some thick/long hairs also..may be 30 hairs per day...
I know that i was carrying the bald gene as my mom is having very less hair and both grandfathers are bald early... My father is the only person who still having head full of hair (Age - 56)... Below are my questions.. My current situation - No noticeable bald spots,no receding and scalp is not visible.. but definitely hair density reduced in last 3 months (kind of diffuse as hair is shedding from all over the scalp sides/back/front/top)... Hair loss per day before biotin- approx 30-40.. After biotin - 20-30... I am counting almost every hair i shed in bathroom/bed/pillow/floor/desk in office/after combing,etc..
1. Is it normal to shed very thin hairs after starting biotin (kind of initial shedding when we take finasteride/minoxidil) ? Because i think biotin is definitely working for me.. increased nail growth within 15 days...And i read smokers are generally biotin deficient.. I smoke too (6-8) per day...I am trying to quit..
2. Is it normal to shed hair in circular shape.. i am not saying about circular bald patch in the head.. when our hair falls in the floor and if it looks like a exact circle (small sized hairs like a circle with 3cm as radius).. One of my friend said that if we start losing hair in a circular shape, its a very bad sign.. is it like that ? - I am not getting any clue about this in the internet,....
3. Can i start minoxidil ? i didnt start yet and scared about initial shed.. also, even if i am not balding (just a hope) is it OK to take minoxidil for life time?.. I mean to ask.. if a non-balding person takes minoxidil, what will happen ?
Please give your valuable replies.. Thanks much ..
