Wow looks like thinning indeed. Is this a new photo or when he was starving himself for "The Machinist" a few years back?

This is him losing more weight for a new boxing movie he's doing, so it's really recent.

His hair is incredible, thick with a low hair line. (Too low, imo, but I'd trade places in a second.)

Good to see he is fully embracing his work again, he does his best work when he goes to lengths to become the character (Machinist, Rescue Dawn and bulked up 1st Batman)

there are shampoos that make hair look insanely thin.

And his hair may be shaved and that might be a wig.

James Dean had his temples shaved to look receded when playing an older version of himself in 'Giant'

Dean's hair is weird. At times it was out of this world, but in pics like this:

it looked a little receded. Actually, the above looks like a still from Rebel Without a Cause but it might have just been a candid pic from around the time he shot Giant and had his temples shaved. Hmmm...

Regardless, he is definitely my "hair idol" as you can tell from my avatar
