What is a cheap effective hairloss threatment I can do? Losing my hair has runied my life and I just bailed out college today because I can't deal with all the stress with people mentioning it every minute of the bloomin day! People making sarky comments, some people can just be mean. Anyway stop my ranting and bitching and back on topic.

I am receding on top of head but not bad anywhere else just the vertex, it has got so much worse over the past few weeks, I am 18.

Well what I am asking is what can I do if I can only spare £10 a week on treatment a week if I am lucky. I don't currently or never have used any treatment before so I am a newbie at this stuff.

EDIT - I use Nizoral shampoo, that is it. It isn't working.

irst up i wouldn't panic too much about the money situation, the first question i'd be thinking about if i were in your shoes would be "Is propecia suitable for me?"

This depends on two things

i) Whether your in favour of hitting the meds (read up on the pros and cons)
ii) Whether the meds are suitable at you age

I genuinely don't know whether propecia is suitable for you at your age, but if your lucky your doctor might know, and if you can i'd certainly recommend seeing one, what i do know is you have an excellent chance of halting hair and even regrowing a little bit back on the crown.

If you think you are suitable for this then you can get a private prescription for it through the nhs and it costs around £35 a month.

This is what i used to do until i swapped to fincar (not sure if i'm allowed to say where i get it from due to forum rules) but basically its the same stuff but comes it at an equivelent of £6 a month!

If you decide propecias not for you theres still plenty of options.

A few might recommend minoxidil which is a regrowth agent which you can get on mail order quite cheaply (or even in boots next to the shampoos).

Just do a search on minoxidil and uk, you might be pleasantly surprised by the prices. Again do your research before commiting to a regimen of this.

And also remember to give everything time to work.

Simple! I love questions like this!!
You should buy some Fincar which is generic form of 5mg Finasteride. Now split the Fincar pills into 5ths and you have 1mg pieces of finasteride WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS PROPECIA. Oh and did I mention that this method will cost you about $8 a month?? Check out http://www.inhousepharmacy.com

Would you recommend this for an 18 y/o though?

I dropped college two semesters my freshmen year, now I'm finally back into it and have to make up a bunch of classes.

Dude, get back into college as soon as you can- seriously, you'll want to have that educational background sometime in your future.

If you cannot, and I mean CANNOT, bear all the comments of thoughtless assholes in your school, try taking some medication to calm you down. I am personally thinking about getting on Xanax to help calm me down--

I'm already on ADHD medication, so I'm pretty much distracted all the time by my hair, or a dog, or a girl, or a (put anything here)...

Anyway, my final point is, try to go back, man.

BTW- look at my regime- it's a little overkill, but there are some good suggestions for an intensive treatment program.

Thanks

Thanks guys, good help there.

I'd rather buy it off the NHS private than buying from abroad etc.

Might try finasteride, and I'll look at minoxidil.

Can I ask, are these tablets dissolving, capsules or liquid? I kinda hate capulse tablets. And what happens if I stop my medication, will my hair fall out?

I've already been to see a doctor while ago and had blood tests and comfirmed male pattern baldness, and I have a appointment to see a dermo in 6 months.

Can I regrow some hair? I wouldn't mind if my hair blended in my circle on my head. I know it won't fully come back but if the medication made some hairgrowth I'd be over the moon.

Anyone around my age got before/after photos of their vertex so I can have a rough idea how long it took, thanks.

1) Yes, you need to stay on the medication. If you stop, it DHT and the autoimmune response will continue their attack on your follicles if you discontinue the finasteride.

2) Yes, its very likely you can regrow some hair with minoxidil.

3) Don't need pics to tell you that. Any proven treatment will take at least 6 months to notice positive effects. Could be as long as a year before you start noticing results, but the wait will be worth it.

Write to your MP and tell him to make Propecia available free on the NHS like it damn well should be. Bald people pay taxes too.
