Chances of reganing hair lost in last year on finasteride and nizoral alone?

Regaining*

In the last year I would say have had 3 sheds.

- First shed is when I noticed I was losing hair (took picture of crown).

- Read scary stories about finasteride, decided not to take, second shed a few months later

- Just had 3rd shed, lost more hair this time, got sad, did more research on finasteride, just started taking it a couple days ago.

Few questions for you guys based on your expereince :

- I know by now my DHT levels are probably lower, how long does it take to 'kick-in' and save hairs I already have on my head?

- What are my chances of getting any of the hair back that I lost in those sheds from the past 8 months?

My pattern is diffuse thinning on crown and around temples (oval of thinning heading from crown towards hairline), but hairline is still decent. I was also under chronic stress and had some chronic physical symptoms of anxiety going on, so I think this may have caused me to have lost more hair...The last month my crown and hairline (temples) have been itching like crazy which seems a little better now after starting finasteride.

Thanks for your input...I can add pics of hair if you that helps. Using Regenpure DR 3x a week BTW.

I know rogain would help but not willing to commit to using it at this point.

It's a crapshoot honestly. I've seen some guys get amazing results. Some guys simply maintain what they have. Realistically you should hope for thickening up of your current hair, that is not too far fetched. But things like regrowing hairlines rarely happen. They do, just to very few guys from what I have seen.

You didn't wait too long though. I've waited 3 years like an idiot and still haven't started it, so I feel your pain. I've lost hair I will surely never get back.

You're smart to wait to start rogaine too. Give finasteride and nizoral at least a year since minoxidil works differently. If you see regrowth, you will never know what is causing it, the finasteride or minoxidil. So stick to finasteride for a while and see how that goes.

Thanks. I am okay with my current hairline, but have thinned out a lot so that is the main thing for me.

I am hoping that a lot of the shedding was due to stress so it will come back with finasteride+nizoral, or is that wishful thinking?

Shedding is weird. Shedding could be from anything and just because you had a big shed does not mean the hair isn't coming back. If it's from male pattern baldness, a shed just means the hair shed and will grow back thinner next time. Since you're on medication, it should reverse that process somewhat. In fact, when you shed from hair treatments, your hair is shedding so it can grow back thicker next time.

If all you are worried about is thickening what you have, I'd say you can be more hopeful. While some men simply maintain what they have, I have seen quite a few cases where guys got thicker hair. finasteride and nizoral will stop the shedding, for one thing, which means you will have more hairs on your head. But they will also reverse some of the damage done by DHT, which also means thickening of hair shafts that have thinned.

Just remain cautiously optimistic. The most important thing is that right now, you are doing everything you realistically can. There is not much more you can do at this point besides be patient. So you should take comfort in knowing that at this point, it's out of your hands. Good luck with results.

Thanks! I got a bunch of before pics so hopefully will seeya in success stories in 6mo - year. Cautiously optimistic is exactly what I am right now haha. Kicking myself for not getting on finasteride sooner
