celebrities and hairloss

A question....likely it has been covered before I joined this forum

I am in the acting profession and am fighting some hairloss.

Why is it that all of our big celebrities, save bruce willis, ted danson, and maybe a few others, seem to not suffer from hairloss?

Does anyone know of celebrities that have fought it? Any who have had transplants? I heard Nicholas Cage was one.

I am asking this question more from how I should approach my career than random gossip.

Most actors are suffering hairloss. It is by coincedence that the most famous actors i.e. Bradd Pitt and to a lesser degree, Tom Cruise, do seem to have pretty good hairline. This gives the impression that all actors are the same way. Most actors are infact losing hair.

Hollywood is like the real world. Some lose, some dont. ALOT of actors do not lose, plain and simple...that doesnt mean that they dont go out of their way to take great care of their hair, but they do not have hereditary baldness.

Like in the real world, i always noticed in every huge financial firm i have worked at in the city, 1 or maybe 2 men were really balding on the entire floor.

Im beginning to realize, more people have their hair than dont

man ther are ton of rich and famous actors that are bald or balding,The thing is they sometumes play the stereotypical bald man part. different parts for different actors. you will get gigs trust, trust, look at danny divido who would of thought hed make hollywood, its because hes unique and different and hes like 5,1 bald and ugly to boot but none the less famous and rich,Anyone ever notice the piece doug wears on king of queens or law n Order special victims unit actor stabler, his transplant looks teribble, anyone else notice this sh*t.

The answer to this one seems pretty simple. Why are most girls in magazines hot? Because they are supposed to be or they wouldn't be there in the first place. Acting is similar, the people that get the jobs are going to be better looking people (not balding) because thats what people want to see. So of course you are going to see a disproportionate amount of guys with great hair on TV. TV certainly does not represent the real world. So if you are an aspiring actor with a less than great hair line your acting skills need to be kick *** to outweigh the not so good dome.

A lot of celebrities probably suffer some hairloss/receding, but you'll never know cause they always prepare themselves in the public.

You face it a lot more cause you look in the mirror with no concealers, but in hollywood, PR people wouldn't let anyone out without being fixed up.

Same with magazine girls, they look good with brush-ups, etc. But when you see them candid....some are eww.

Matthew McConoghey (SP? LOL!) had a pretty noticably receding hairling in the movie EdTV, but since then his hair seems to have firmed up a bit.

Apparently, according to some post I read on Tom Hagerty's discussion forum, he was in an interview with Conan O Brian, and Conan commented that his hair seemed to have gotten better, and Matthew responded something along the lines of a "miracle drug called revivogen".

Although, given the fact that he is a highly paid actor, he could afford to spend gross amounts of money on stuff like human growth hormone (Thats stuff's like $1200 a month)

I'd disagree, I'd have to say Tom Cruise is more famous than Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt is just one of those good-looking-boys of the moment.
Tom has many great films under his belt, Mission Impossible, Magnolia, The Last Samurai, Vanilla Sky, while Brad has only a few good movies.
(Fight Club, se7en)

But, on the whole, brad pitt is cuter ;)

TheOliviaTremorControl - dude... HGH? Tom Cruise has many great films under his belt? Brad Pitt is cuter? WTF are you smoking?

And Ghost... you should approach your acting career like we all should approach our chosen careers - based on our ability! Not our fragile hairlines!

While I don't know if "baldness embraced" acting will ever come close to the importance of say... "method" acting, maybe you could 'draw' upon the fear you feel when seeing 30 hairs in the sink, the humiliation when someone runs into you from behind after being blinded by the reflection from your shiny crown, or the anger that you experience seeing some dufus walking down the street combing his hair into a ridiculous quiff - without a care in the world...

Be real dude, baldness is a lot of things, but it certainly wouldn't affect your ability to act.

What I meant was Tom Cruise's hairline isn't as good as Brad Pitt's and not their acting ability. Of course, Tom Cruise is a better actor. In fact, Brad Pitt could be described as being of averge acting talent.

Check out the British actor Jason Stratham. Then check out who he's sleeping with every night.

This dies not disguise the fact that he has a very crappy hairline and looks ugly.

Sure, alot of actors are chosen because of their good looks, but many of them have been in the public eye for years. I don't think that Hollywood is so far ahead of modern science so as to be able to identify the male pattern baldness gene and hire actors who won't go bald.

It's the lucky ones who don't lose hair over the years (or are able to hide it) that maintain the "it" boy status.

The only reason you don't see a lot of bald actors is hair pieces. I think most people would be shocked if they knew all the actors wearing them. Not that they're all NW6s but any receding hairline on a leading man is covered up before the public knows.
