Causes other than male pattern baldness?

Hello everyone
I'm 25, been losing hair since I was about 17. Right now I'm using Minoxidil 5% twice a day, I tried propecia a while ago but the side effects made me stop.
My hair loss doesn't look like "standard" male pattern baldness, and lately I've been starting to notice that I'm thinning all over my head, not just the top, which leads me to believe that maybe it's not male pattern baldness?
I've talked with my doctor and she just gave me a prescription for propecia and told me to use Rogain, she really doesn't know anything about hair loss apparently.
So what other things can cause my hair loss? I tried a no-gluten diet for about 4 months and it didn't do anything.

I knew a guy that read a story about another guy that tried a no gluten diet and vitamins, and was able to grow all of his hair back within a month. EFF finasteride! It's time for all of us to go Natural.

From what you are saying, I can deduce that you're a diffuse thinner instead of a receder. In a matter of time it would gradually recede further and further as thinning is an early sign of recession.

Are you perhaps suffering from telogen effluvium? Hormonal imbalance, poor diet, stress, emotional problems? If you can't use propecia, why not try spironolactone cream, or azaelic acid, maybe saw palmetto? I've known people who have had different success rates from different treatments.
