Hello everyone! I haven't been on this forum in a while. I have been on finasteride for ~3 years and long story short, my hair is very thick. The medication has been great to me and I believe I made an excellent decision in starting the drug.

Being the start of summer, I have recently decided to start dieting and am cutting some calories out of my diet and am amping up my cardio to 45 min to an hour a day which includes running on the treadmill and doing the elliptical. Obviously cardio is great for you and might even be beneficial to hair, but I would like to know what would be a safe amount of calories to cut in order to not shock my system and go through telogen effluvium that I was told might happen if you crash diet. Being a hair forum, let me know if any you guys have advice and/or knowledge when it comes to dieting and your hair!

P.S. I'm 6'3" , 220 pounds, and I am 21 years old.

Thanks in advance!

I think as long as you are not deficient in anything and are getting key nutrients you would be fine

Is your diet going to be extreme?

Exactly what I'm trying to decide! Hoping to gain some advice on this forum. Prob not going to be too extreme given that I am pretty young (have a fairly fast metabolism) and am in the gym working out on a daily basis and I need energy.

Just looking for the bare minimum I should be consuming to lose some weight the quickest without going through a shed or telogen effluvium.

hmm several users here are into fitness--some to lean out and then some to be more ripped/buidl muscles. I am sure some will chime in...I don't think unless you did something extreme for long time it would trigger hair loss--BUT of course hair loss is so unpredictable person by person.
I have an iron deficiency so i have to take a lot of iron and I do notice my hair shed when I am lower than I should be. It just makes androgenic a bit more tricky to treat.
