im 18 and i noticed my hair loss about a month ago. ive been using nizoral, minoxidil 5%, and propecia for the past 3 weeks or so and for the past few days, ive noticed more hair falling out than usual. normally when i shower and dry my hair i notice about 20-25 hairs. today there were over 50. on top of that, some of the hair ive noticed falling out is a lot shorter than the rest. is this normal? i know that some people lose more hair when they start a treatment and this is a sign that it is working but i am worried about why the shorter hairs are falling out. the hair loss is on the crown of my head and around the temples.

im pretty sure the propecia is working because ive had almost no itchiness/tingling for the past couple weeks.

also, this might be a stupid question but can someone explain what diffuse hair loss means? ive seen it thrown around on here but idk what it means.

btw, ive noticed some eyebrow hair falling out too. is this normal?

Diffuse hairloss is when the hair just gets thinner (loses density) without receeding or going bald in a patch.

normal cases recede at the hairline first, and eventually at the crown. So balding is noticeable from the start when they recede.

diffuse thinners normally keep the hairline , but thin all over the head evenly, so its less noticable, until it all goes at once into norwood 5+. kind of like prince william, except his hairline did recede a bit as well.

basically its where miniturization occurs all over the male pattern baldness area, instead of just along the front and crown.

bump. any help?

minoxidil shed? check the shedding section, I believe it's quite normal.

As for the eyebrows, I'll often find eyebrows as well they're just like other hairs from time to time they'll reach shed, providing it's not noticeable i wouldn't worry.
