Can you smoke, drink alcohol, or have sex before and after a hair transplant? What were your clinic's instructions?

I'm curious because I've noticed that almost every clinic seems to give slightly different instructions.

Some clinics recommend stopping smoking a few days before surgery, others say two weeks.

The same goes for alcohol and even sexual activity.

For those who have already had a hair transplant:

  • How long before surgery were you told to stop smoking?
  • How long before surgery were you told to avoid alcohol?
  • Did your clinic mention avoiding sex before the procedure?
  • After surgery, when were you allowed to smoke again?
  • When could you drink alcohol again?
  • When were you told it was safe to resume sexual activity?
Did you actually follow those instructions?

Looking back, do you think smoking, alcohol, or returning to normal activities too early affected your healing, swelling, bleeding, graft survival, or final result?

I'd really like to hear real patient experiences because these seem to be some of the most common questions people have before a hair transplant.
