Try it... get a hair stylist that will work with you through the process mate.

The thinner hair wont grow as fast so you will have to thin and trim the mullet more often. Also the thinner hair will be much more susceptible to wind. Give it a try, worst case you cut it off again. I had longer hair swept across my face and over my eye and past my ears until recently but im no worse than a Norwood 2-2.5. Starting from a buzz I had to get the back cut almost twice as often to make it look good longer but that may be normal.

Its possible, but depends on how bad the thinning is. I have seen people with slightlly thin hair that is long and they dont look too bad.

The answer to your question depends on the length of the anagen(growth) phase of your hair and how it has been affected by male pattern baldness. The normal growth phase can range from 2-10 years depending on your genetics---meaning a single hair will grow for this predetermined length of time (at an average of one half inch per month) before it goes into the resting phase, falls out, and is replaced by a new hair.

When you are balding, the growth phase is progressively shortened and the new hairs usually come in thinner and weaker. These hair cycle will continue to shorten and your hair will continually thin until the follicles are producing nothing but peach fuzz.

You can probably still grow your hair longer for a while, but as your hair cycles continue to shorten you will find that your hair won't grow very long before it enters the resting phase and falls out.

I think its possible. Your hair that you can see on your crown and vertex is thick, but i can tell you have lost some hair there too. If you added topic you wont be able to see your scalp. However your scalp is always more noticeable when hair is short rather than it is long. I have minor thinning around the same place and i can grow my hair out to four inches long and you can't see my scalp because the thick hair grows over the thin hair and no one can tell. The problem lies when you end up with hair at different lengths. You can always tie it back when its long enough i suppose. I know a few people who do this and they dont look bad.

Providing finasteride is strong enough to hold back your hairloss then you have nothing to worry about losing more hair. If this is definetelly true then you dont need minoxidil. However minoxidil should you use it will most likelly strenthen your existing hair and make them thicker. You might even gain some hair back. The problem lies in the fact that rogaine or minoxidil will intensify your shedding. This is bad for trying to grow shoulder length hair as your hair will be more messed up at different lengths. On the other hand however its great for short hair (as the hair would be more even) and gives faster regrowth than finestride (2-4 months). I would suggest should you use it 2% minoxidil as it will give you little shedding if any compared to the regular 5% minoxidil. Results may not be as good though, good luck

Do not use 2% minoxidil, it is not worth it. If you are afraid of the initial shed do not start on minoxidil. If you are not determined to be consistent with your aplications do not start minoxidil either. Keep in mind that usually people that experience a big initial shed are the best responders. Using 2% aiming at a smaller shed and lesser results is not clever.

I do not think that your current hair status calls for a stimulant though. Your hair looks good as it is.

ps.I use minoxidil with long hair and have absolutely no problems.

how long is your hair , and did u see my pics you think i can pull it off ?

click on my sig, you will see.

Length exaggerates thinning, so a nw1 buzzed full head could start revealing it's evil male pattern baldness nature at 5cm length and more.

before treatment my hair would reveal even greater thinning when longer than buzzed. So, I am not sure...

The problem of thinning guys growing their hair out is that the sides are normally thicker than the top is, so it puffs out....not a good luck. Freakofnature, best way to find out is to grow it, it will become evident if you can't pull it off.

I understand your desire to grow your hair out: we always want the things we can't have even more.

However, you're balding. You need to face that. Don't become one of those sad, balding people with a horrible looking ponytail.

Don't worry though, you still have a decent amount of hair to sport a stylish, shorter haircut. :)
