Can you check your thyroid for problems from home?

Is this possible? Please someone tell me if there is some method for this.

I just want to check myself for this...not really in the mood to go to a doctor and tell him I am on x and y medication for hair loss blah blah. I am 20, male.

I think it's good idea to check for this kind of stuff.

Anyone? Please.

It's always useful to find out what your TSH level is, but if you think you're symptomatic and you come up consistently low on this:

then that is fairly indicative of a thyroid issue.
