Can Using Powder Hair Gel Everyday Cause Hair Breakage Or Any Type Of Hair Loss?

I use powder hair gel almost everyday..it reminds me of dry shampoo but its not its hair gel and i use it to give my hair volume which works but my concern is that it can block my pours or block my hair follices or cause any kind of blockage or breakage. The lady from the store i boight it from said it couldnt but not sure what to believe.
