Contrary to common belief, just because your parents have Androgenetic Alopecia, does not mean you will have or vice-versa. Your parents may be carrying genotype for Androgenetic Alopecia, but no phenotype. Thus, genotype sometimes show up in offspring as phenotype-If you know what I mean. I know a large family with 8 sons, father Androgenetic Alopecia, maternal grandfather Androgenetic Alopecia, mother also probaby female pattern loss or at least very thin hair after middle age. 3 sons have Androgenetic Alopecia, 5 other sons have incredibly dense hair even into late middle age with no sign of even age related loss of any kind.
