Stress affects everyone differently. I was under massive stress years back, had problems with depression and anxiety. I felt like throwing up every day, pains in my stomach all the time, weight loss etc etc. I first noticed my hairline beginning to recede when my stress levels were sky high. I cant say if stress triggered it or not though.

I'm not anti-capitalist either, i'm anti consumerist though

Consumerism is the bane of society.

I blame a widespread lack of life skills, coupled with extremely high expectations and a lack of the discipline to actually work hard at anything.

High expectation in life + inability or lack of desire to work hard - coping life skills = stress

A very interesting pattern is emerging here.

I have to agree with this equation. High expectations and laziness were the making of my downfall.

Consumerism is one of the pillars of economics and it's been around much longer than you think. The Silk Road, the Spice Road, etc were all born out of consumerism. Along the trade routes people were exchanging information and knowledge and our modern society was born. I'm not exactly anti-consumerism, I understand where it comes from and why it's needed. I guess I'm more against the greed or the selfishness that comes with consumerism.

When Adam Smith wrote The Wealth of Nations he talked about a system of perfect liberty (system of perfect liberty=capitalism). His proposed system was supposed to liberate us from the control of the state and put the invisible hand in action. It is that invisible hand that creates the dog eat dog society, I think the invisible hand should be regulated to a certain degree. A society without regulations would degenerate into anarchy.

TBH, when it comes to the economic model, I'm pro-capitalism. However, when it comes to social structures, I'm a socialist. In other words, I want to be free in my economic pursuits, but then I pay my taxes in full and I expect the government to provide equal services to everyone.
