Ok guys I got my lab results today and they were:

TSH 1.23 (0.3-4.70)
T4 Free 14.8 (9.1-23.8)
Free T3 3.6 (2.5-5.7)
Testosterone 11.9 (6.0-30.0)
Iron 43 (11-27)
UIBC 10 (19-51)
Iron Saturation 0.81 (0.25-0.5)
Total Bilirubin 33.0 (0.0-23.0)

Apparently my iron is extremely high. Any thoughts? I'm currently on propecia and rogaine foam and eat very healthy. Whats strange with these results is I thought I had some thyroid related hairloss (I have thinning right down the middle of the head, with emphasis on the front and in the thin areas I have darker thicker kinkier hair). But my lab results seem to say it isn't thyroid (although all of my father's side has thyroid issues). Any ideas from the blood results? My scalp is sore where I am thinning (not red or itchy, just sore). Thanks.

Have you ever been diagnosed with hemochromatosis?

Do you get multiple blood transfusions?

Do you have liver or kidney disease?

Do you have a history of lead poisoning?

Do you take a mult-vitamin or iron supplement, and if so, how much iron are ingesting per day?

Have you ever been diagnosed with hemochromatosis? NO

Do you have liver or kidney disease? NO

Do you have a history of lead poisoning NO?

Do you take a mult-vitamin or iron supplement, and if so, how much iron are ingesting per day? I take one multi-vitamin a day, along with a zinc magnesium b12 supplement, and vitamin C

Can the high iron be causing hairloss? I had my bloodwork done four months ago when I was really shedding and my iron was normal but my bilirubin was still high.

Do you have thalassemia?

Do you have sideroblastic anemia?

Do you have any chronic diseases?

Do you have any sort of liver disease or inherited diseases such as hepatitis, dubin-johnson, gilbert's disease, etc.?

Do you have porphyria?

You probably don't know the answer to the above questions, but I'm curious.

Hey Doctor,

I follow these boards fairly well and know that you're a med student. I've recently been diagnosed with Gilbert's syndrome (heavily elevated billirubin levels). With a condition like that should I be taking meds? My meds include propecia, 3000 mg of msm, and soon to be added 1000 mg of vitamin c. Thanks ahead of time, ur contributions to this board r amazing. Take care.
