As it turns out, I have a weird liver. I can't take finasteride because my liver reacts badly to it which is basically why i experience sexual function problems.I'm grieving pretty hard. Need to find the strength to travel the road to acceptance. Considered just using minoxidil but I doubt that will save me for every long considering I'm diffusing. All I can say is i tried i guess. Maybe China will release the miracle cure tomorrow or in 15 years but until then. Thanks for the help, fellas. I wish you all the success with your regimes.

I remember chatting to you before brah. Feel bad. What is wrong with your liver in medical terms, do you know? Is it steatohepatitis which is common in younger people? Jump on RU and stick with minoxidil.

Total bummer. Although finasteride/dutasteride are the best to fight male pattern baldness with, I wouldn't give up. You can still use topicals. Many are successful with maintenance while using topicals. Either route you choose, good luck.

I think that might have been it, yeah. Basically it's like fatty liver or an alcholic's liver. I don't drink alcohol often at all but it could be because I was pretty overweight and still am, although he said there's no real fix for it. I can just kinda manage it with staying active. I mostly tuned out after he said he recommended against me continuing the drug. He also said that I should have had my liver tested before being prescribed the drug. I saw a different doctor and a dermatologist that didn't mention anything about liver function having anything to do with finasteride. I might get on minoxidil although i feel like minoxidil alone won't be any good for diffuse thinning.

I'll think about RU. I don't feel comfortable ordering something off the internet and not really knowing whether it's legit ect ect.

Yes, steatohepatitis is a type of fatty liver. I suspected that was the case. You can't really do much if your prone to it but try and lose weight, don't smoke/drink much, as you are more prone to liver probs in the future as well as diabetes and hypertension. It's one of those unlucky things that will be there long term - genetics.

I wouldn't go on finasteride either with that.

I think doctors don't routinely do monitoring on finasteride before/during/after treatment, it's virtually accessible by filling in a questionnaire at a pharmacy.

The kind of issue you have with your liver means any long term meds are a no go as it's all metabolised there.

minoxidil might buy a few years. You need to reduce DHT to stand a chance long term, I know RU is experimental but it is a topical so sides may be less. As you say, no one really knows and im sure it goes systemic to an extent.

How about nizorol to reduce dht and topical spironolactone and of course minoxidil . I've been using topical spironolactone for a long time and find it very effective . Also consider azelaic acid cream at 5 or 10 %

Hey man, sorry you're unable to take finasteride due to your liver problems. I know how hard it is accepting that you can't win. I'm right there with you. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of sexual function problems arose from finasteride treatment and how long were you on the medication?

The issues that were actually problematic were loss of libido and ED. Not as problematic were watery/less semen, which isn't that big of a deal. It seems most people experience that on finasteride. The other was that i stopped getting morning wood, which i believe Wolf Pack actually told me that morning wood is a sign of sexual health. Up to that point I was convincing myself the side effects psychosomatic but being told that got me to go to the doctor. He agreed that loss of morning wood suggests a physiological problem rather than psychological. I got all the blood tests ect and now I'm here.

If you are ok to bald and your head looking strange just for the sake that when you wake up in the morning, your dick is erect, then it's your choice. But be careful to not feel sorry after some time when male pattern baldness will really kick in.
And what's the connection between liver and ED? Cause i don't see the logic.

Strictly about morning wood(in absence of ED), my personal opinion, and i don't want anybody to be offended, but i think it is silly. I would prefer hair on my head during the day than my dick sticking out in the morning. I stress again, speaking only about morning wood here, assuming the "little guy" works fine when needed.
But, in the end, is important what you value more. If you accept hair loss and feel good from the morning wood, very fine.

Firstly. I am not okay to go bald. I have a liver condition that means I cannot take long term medication because it damages my liver. I have no choice but to discontinue finasteride. This only isn't a real bummer because I need to quit finasteride but also because I was going to discuss treatment for my severe anxiety which I can't now because I wouldn't be able to take that medication either.

Secondly. A common response your body will make to liver damage is a rise in estrogen.

1.Have you seeked a second medical opinion? Cannot liver protectors(for example Liv52) help at all?
2. If you say liver damage results in estrogen rise, i believe you, but what;s the logical explanation?

Liver is involved in oestrogen clearance. That's why those with hepatitis or cirrhosis get gynae too.

Best to give body chance to clean up especially liver - seriously delete everything that stresses the liver in your diet & beverages. The liver is the ONE organ that can replenish & renew itself, I saw it it in my old man he had liver cancer at 75 years of age two thirds of his liver chopped out, the old bugger is 95 now and still powering. Don't give up and don't always listen to dickhead doctors they know little about real nutrient - minerals - get into fulvic concentrated minerals for a start and real greens. Once your body is back where it should be who knows whats around the corner for hare & health. It worked for my old man hopefully you will get to his age with everything working. By the way he still has his hair.
