Can Minoxidil Make Your Hair Worse?

As the title says, can minoxidil actually cause more hair loss and damaged hair? I have been using it for nearly 3 years, and all areas I have been applying my hair seems damaged or is falling out. It appears I am a non-responder, but is it possible that it could actually be doing damage. I stopped using it on my crown like 4 months ago and since then my crown no longer has the damaged looking hairs (difficult to tell though as my hair is shorter). I am tempted to stop using it on my hairline as well, as my hairline is still falling out rapidly anyway, and many of the hairs on my hairline look damaged. What do you guys think? I really hope I don't have a massive shed from the little bit of hair I have left on my hairline.

It essentially does nothing, but buys time. Meaning, it keeps your hair in a more healthier state during the course of application.

It keeps your hair in a more terminal state, and has a higher turn over. But has no effect on reversing miniaturization.

hope this helps.

no finasteride, no hair

I'd say it's possible... I went to the barber couple days ago and he says my pores are clogged and applying that stuff makes my hair fall out more. But I also notice more baby hairs growing in, so I'd say use in moderation and wash your hair thoroughly the next day.

By buying time aren't you interfering with miniaturization ?

What do you mean in moderation? It's intended to be used 2x daily.

I am using finasteride. Still worried that minoxidil may actually be causing hair loss. Not just doing nothing.

I mean using it, but not too much like 10 sprays all over your hairline

Shook, i see you always advise for finasteride, but never for dutasteride.
What are your opinions on Dutasteride?
You're thoughts are very frank & to the point, which is why i enjoy reading your post lol:D
