Can I use Nizoral and or Minodixil when my hair contains gel

I'm planning to see the docter and ask him for a subscription for Propecia and / or Nizoral and Minodixil. I'd like know if the hair needs to be clean of hairgel before i can apply Nizoral / Minodixil to the hair. I used the search for this question but I couldn't find anything.

Nizoral is a shampoo, you wash your hair with it.

Minoxidil needs to get to the scalp, so use the minoxidil first, let it dry a little then use your styling products.
