Hey there balding fellas,

I was on minoxidil 5% once a day and Dutasteride 0.5mg twice a week for one year and I experienced admirable growth.

Unforturnately, I stopped my meds for 6 months and the hairloss resumed. I restarted my meds.

I know it's hard gain back lost hair, so I want to keep realistic hopes. Will I alteast be able to maintain my current state for the next 3 or so years? I plan to do a hair transplant after that.

Posting hair status 3 months post restarting meds. Seeing slight improvement

What do you think?

Here's a pre and post restart comparison. (I had a haircut in-between)

Do you think there's improvement?

Yes. There's not much there to maintain, but if you can get a little regrowth from minoxidil and then get a hair transplant, you might be alright. Until then you might want to shave it.

I use Gofybr. Gives me awesome hair. So I'll keep using it until I get a transplant

My only concern is to have enough hair strands for the fibre to attach to for the next few years :D

Ok, it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck.

Sure, I'm also thankful I'm living post 1700's so that I've had vaccination for deadly diseases :)))

Indeed. For those in middle class+ in the first world, options and solutions today for previously devastating problems. And presumably things will only continue to improve barring an apocalyptic event or the collapse of civilization

On the other hand, baldness wasn't an issue in the 1700's because everyone wore wigs.

It's only a matter of time until the next space rock pays us a visit..Modern technology has shown us how often these things nearly hit our planet...But would modern technology save us from the next comet, super volcano ect?

I must say, It's the best product to conceal a balding head. I sprinkle the fibre in the morning and style my hair like I want it. Then I spray their strenghtening solution for a tougher hold, which honestly is just like a regular hair gel, it keeps the hair sturdy

Once I put on, I forget about it. I don't have to tend to it throughout the day. I've sweated and had rain fall on my head, both the times, the fibre held strongly, no leaks, which is impressive.

Only cons: You cannot keep running your hands into the hair or some of the fibre sticks to your fingers. Depending on how you rest your head when you sleep, the fibre might stick to the cushions. You could dust it off in the morning though.

In all, It's a ridiculous but easy solution!

Its hard to conceal the hair line though, and when you go into exposing light, it becomes very easy to see the fibres.

I used to use nanogen for my diffuse hair but when my hair started getting really thin, it was easy to tell. Thats when I jumped on medicine and my hair has improved since then, I no longer use fibres.

To answer the question, yes you could probably save what you have and regrow slighty, when you consider the hair transplant you may want to consider a smaller one like 1500-2000 FUE for the frontal zone rather then a large 4000+ transplant.

I am in a similar scenario to you, my hair loss pattern is the same but luckily since medication I've grown some back, I would think I need around 1000 FUE to my temples and front and that will achieve the look I'm going for.

By far, no one has really noticed. In-order to not lose more hair and keep a natural look with the fibres, I'm continuing my meds. All I want is for whatever hair I have to hold for 3 more years. After that I'll be 2 years graduated from university and will have a salary enough to get a transplant :)

Do you think about 2000ish grafts would suffice for a while?
Also, what do you think, is there a good possibility that my hair will maintain long enough, given that the meds did a good job the first time around?

I dont know if its good with such defuse hair loss to get a hair transplant that was one of my concerns as this is the issue with female hair transplant..I asked some of the men who are defuse who had hair transplant and they dont seem to work out well..I can be wrong you can ask around.

2000 FUE for the frontal area would be enough I think, because particularly for diffuse thinners like us, we don't want to impression that its super thick, because then it doesn't look natural to have a solid solid hairline.

I think from the pictures, you will be able to maintain, but long term use on dutasteride is hard to say since theres no clinical data, I used it for 1 year and decided I was going to use finasteride instead.

Well, since Duta is a more potent version of Finasteride, I'm more inclined to think it should work longterm.

Yes no doubt but what about the long term side effects? That is what I mean.
I wouldn't mess with duta I read something about type II dht being vital to being able to have kids and sh*t. Sides staying prominent even after discontinuing the drug. Stick with fina. Some things are more important than hair.
