Hi,

I'm thinking of trying Finasteride out scince I think i might be in the early stages of loosing my hair. I'm thinking of taking a dose of 0.5mg of finasteride. I did try this years ago for a couple of weeks, taking a 1.25 daily dose and I did notice some slight side effects mainly slight decrease in libido. But I only tried it out for a week or two so I don't know if I'd have adapted to the drug. I'm going to try taking a dose of 0.5mg and seeing how I get on.

I'm just wondering if anyone hear has taken this or is currently on this and is it interferring with your workout/fitness regimes? Since it interfere's with hormones in your blood stream?

thanks

go to http://forum.bodybuilding.com and search finasteride and or propecia in their search thing.

you'll probably arrive at the conclusion, that in general, propecia (finasteride) does not interfere with muscle gains from weight lifting coupled with a diet that has excess kilojoules.

I do not think it does at all. The first week you are on finasteride you will probably go into beast mode from the slight rise in T levels this disappears pretty quickly though, I really felt it and was able to bench press the most I ever have, 315.

Check out this study: http://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/760049

Researchers took 139 men, gave them 4 different doses testosterone, and then gave half dutasteride and half a placebo.

Testosterone is well known to do most of the heavy lifting so to speak (muscle growth as well as maintaining libido and erectile function among other very important functions), but it was unknown if DHT had a key role to play in these functions as well, or perhaps some sort of synergy between the two androgens was required in order to keep everything running smoothly.

This study goes a long way towards ruling out both of those possibilities; both muscle development and sexual function appear to be uninterrupted when 95% of DHT is removed from these men’s systems. Since the DHT inhibition of finasteride sits somewhere around 65%, we can safely assume that these results are applicable to that drug as well.

I can also attest to the fact that I have absolutely no problems putting on muscle. I have no shirtless pictures to show off, but I am able to gain muscle just as easily as I could when I was 20 (I am 30 now). I have been on finasteride for 1.5 years.

Perhaps I'm being overly simplistic here, but finasteride stops testosterone turning into DHT... does that not then mean more free testosterone in the body, which is great for building muscles?

I'm actually quite interested in this, because as well as sh*t hair I am also stick thin and am trying to gain weight.
