Considering no one knows much about either one I would say yes. Is there evidence saying it does or could? no there is no established link between the two that is known.

While taking the drug (finasteride 1.25mg ed), I also developed SD. It begun I think around the 4th month when I noticed increased production of sebum, oily face/scalp. This and the fact that i was thinning all over even and the nape area made me stopped taking it. For the SD I had to shave down to skin, then I would use coal tar, leave for 10min, clean gently with a tooth brush removing the layer of dead skin and sebum.

for how long did you use finasteride and how did it take for SD to go away after you stopped using finasteride?

I used finasteride 9 months, last 2 and half months I wasn't taking the 1.25mg as I was trying to reduce the dosage slowly. I was cutting the pill in 8 pieces and taking it only every four to five days. Nearly one year after stopping finasteride I can say my SD is under control, there is no cure for SD as far as I know. I still have mild dandruff, but nothing like what I experienced while on finasteride.

Did you feel SD getting better on lower dosages? I want to test if my SD is indeed due to finasteride or not!. I'm thinking of lowering my dose from 1mg to 0.25 mg/day and see if it helps.

Well it's hard to say, i don't think i saw any difference, probably didn't give it enough time to see any real changes, my hair was going downhill by the 6th month and I couldn't take it any longer. You could try .25 for like 6 months and then evaluate the results, every body reacts different.
