Can final pattern be seen with the naked eye?

I am 32 with a receding hairline and a poor family history for hair loss (dad NW6 and maternal grandfather NW4). A few years back i went to see a hair transplant surgeon who said that he didn't think i would become very bald... but he only did this by looking with the naked eye...using a comb etc. Is it possible to tell whether someone will become bald in future just by looking? My hair loss has been fairly stable for a few years although the receded areas are probably thinner.

If you are 32 and only a NW2 then there is no way you would become a NW6 at least until your early 60s especially if you are on meds. At the max you could end up as a NW3 with thin coverage over that period. Unless you accelerate the process by going on roids or get on any pills that alter your hormone levels.

That's reassuring although i wonder if it is still possible. Finasteride is something i don't want to take if i can help it.

I am a NW2...possibly some slight thinning in the nw3 area, and maybe the crown...but it is hard to tell...i have hairs nearly everywhere apart from the temples but other areas are thinner looking.
