it might sound a stupid question as minoxidil has alcohol too ..but keeping that aside is alcohol overall bad for your hair?

actually i am suffering from sebderm too and i know alcohol is bad for sebderm

having a few drinks is fine but excessive alcohol consumption is very bad for hair . Whenever I drink too much ( to the point where I have to throw up and can't remember anything ) my scalp always hurts the next day and my hair looks terrible . I think binge drinking is likely to inflame the scalp in some way . Moderate social drinking is fine though

I'd say negligible.
Being unnhealthy in general as almost zero impact on male pattern baldness, only at absolute extremes and even then you wouldn't really say it has 'acelerated' your male pattern baldness, you would say it has accelerated your hair loss because they are two different things, one is from DHT attacking your hair (AKA male pattern baldness) and the other is from not getting appropriate nutrients to your hair causing it to fall out and not grow.
Buddy you see homeless people with thick NW1's, being healthy and bald has absolutely no correlation.

Does alcohol make finasteride/dutasteride less effective?

It's dumb to compare someone with male pattern baldness with someone without male pattern baldness...

You should compare 2 people with male pattern baldness one a heavy drinker, the other not a heavy drinker... that would be interesting

I'm pretty sure if you have male pattern baldness, alcohol can make things worse... just like almost everything else

Doesn't matter, aggressiveness and pattern of male pattern baldness is different for everyone who experiences it; it is totally unpredictable until it actually happens. Only under the circumstances of having two identical people do the exact same thing(same enviroment), except one is a heavy drinker then it will actually be a fair test.

I personally believe that no amount of unhealthy diet; unless we are talking extreme will have an effect on male pattern baldness and that is why I talked about NW1 homeless guy. It's all the follicles man, only when certain extremes are taken does an individual for whatever reason starts suffering from hair loss and it's the same for a guy with no male pattern baldness. Whether you're afflicted by male pattern baldness or not, healthiness and hair loss is only experienced to the extreme.

Alcohol is a ****ing poison that you should stay away from at all times, and yes it will speed up hairloss if you're prone.

The only hairloss anyone ever got from alcohol was shaving their head when drunk.

I didn't read all the replies, but I highly doubt alcohol has any effect on male pattern baldness. I am not aware of any link between alcohol intake and DHT levels.

I once knew a raging alcoholic. Guy lost his job, his family, and his home. The last years of his life he spend literally on the streets as a bum. He died with a full head of hair.

This is what pisses me off. People who work hard to get decent jobs shouldn't have to be jelly of these nw1 bums who are living off our tax payments
