Im only 1 week into dermarolling and honestly notice my hair is thinner only at the hairline (where i dermaroll) and it happened super quick. I think in the past week ive accidently pulled out about 10-15 hairs on my hairline by usin the derma roller. Would appreciate any advice on this as i think im going to drop it. Any advice based on if dermaroller causes a shed. If applying minoxidil AFTER the dermaroller is the correct way and also, techniques on how not to rip your hair out with it. thanks.

What is the length of your dermaroller needles?
Do you feel that you have developed some kind of inflammation as a result of doing this over a week?
I would suspect your rapid thinning in the area could be due to inflammation or accidentally pulling it out by force with the roller.
I have long hair (below shoulder length, and much shorter on top due to male pattern baldness). I find that using dermastamps allows less friction with existing hair; although this takes much longer to cover an area you intend to, as well as possibly more risky with 'dragging' it across the scalp rather than simply stabbing. I've been doing this for over a year now, and I feel that my scalp is now in better condition (albeit with occasional itching, which I accept as recovering from the wounding as opposed to inflammation, judging by appearance). It certainly feels much cleaner and with less sebum.

Hey man I'm using a 1.5 mm roller. Should I be using anything smaller? I mean my hairline is thin as hell idk how I manage to pull out so many hairs. I literally pulled out like 5-8 out of my left temple when rolling last night. I feel that eventually these pulled out hairs are gonna be aesthetically noticeable. I try wetting my hair and pulling it back but that only works moderately. Can you say you visually seen any benefit from rolling/stamping?

I added dermarolling to my regime around the same time as I did Finasteride (prior to that Minoxidil only for almost 10 years), so it is difficult to isolate the benefits of dermarolling alone, but there is some mild gain in the temples and crown.
I understand that the study on the efficacy of dermarolling was based on 1.5mm length, so it seems to be the number many are going with.
I use 1.0mm (up from 0.5mm a few months ago). Personally, I feel that if the idea of dermarolling is to promote blood flow to the area to generate regrowth, I don't need so much length. Some view it as a way of improving absorption of topical solutions, which I would have thought a shorter length without causing bleeding should also be enough.
However, some people feel that you do need to go deep to trigger any benefits...I am afraid to do that with the thought of scalp being wounded consistently and putting it at higher risks of inflammation.
Can someone else contribute their thoughts?
