Can crash dieting cause hair loss?

Hey guys. Back in late December, I went from a bulking diet of ~3400 calories/day to a cutting diet of less than 2000 calories/day. I did this pretty well overnight and didn't give my body time to adjust. Come to think of it, for the past couple months my hair has thinned out a TON, despite being on propecia. I feel like it has even thinned out on the sides too. I never really considered this, but could my sudden massive drop in calories have triggered my sudden hair loss? Recently I've been eating normally again and I am taking a multivitamin, so I should have corrected the problem. The strange thing is I am only like 150 lbs.. so a 2000 calorie/day diet isn't a starvation diet for me.

What do you guys think?

Well there is a definite link between hair loss and diet, although in your specific case it might have been the types of foods you were eating and not so much the change in calories. Or it might not have even been related to that.
