Bye Bye Avodart?

Hello people,
after 1 year of Avodart my male pattern baldness is drastically worse.
My hairline is receeded and the hair looks like sh*t.
With Proscar my hairloss was stopped but I wanted improove my temples area and I committed a big error...
The first month with Avodart I was very excited because my hair was great (better than Proscar) but then, month after month, very thin and the shedding increased.
I don't have any significant side effect except extremely dry hair and skin (increased libido).
What's the problem? The drug makes an iperandrogenicity? Some bad estrogen?
Maybe is true the story of genotypes? It's a dosage problem?
I don't know... So now I'm completely lost because I don't know if stay on Avodart or back to Proscar. I never used a topical but I don't want start it.
I read that some excellent doctors like Hasson,Feller and others prescribes Avodart to almost its patients but I also read some "horror stories" about this drug.
Help!!!!! :(

Andrea, sounds identical to me. I am on it 6 months and hairline is gone and whats left at front is diffuse and continues to get worse. I have been on dose twice per week as hair/skin was very dry on full dose. No sides but increased libido. Hearing you are 6 months ahead of me makes me think I really should stop as its not going to get better.

I have stayed away from topicals except for a couple of times but I couldn't get on with it.

finasteride I do get v tired on but 0.25mg per day is o.k. so maybe i'll go back to that.

Like you I do not want to give up on meds as then its a give up after a year of treatments and all been a waste of time.

Has anyone been on dutasteride a year gone all downhill and then saw a turnaround after this..if anyone has then would be possible we have some hope.

yes i was on avodart for 11 months and the first 2 months were awful and then my shedding stopped and at 5 months into avodart my hair was at least baseline,then for 6 more months i shed and shed and the roots on the hair that were being shed were thin and the thick at the top ,so this is when i knew that avodart was doing nothing ,if anything making my hair worse so now i am on propecia 1.25mg and 300 oral spironolactone,and the oral spironolactone has made my haie 1000 times worse so now i am lost

I destroyed my hair with my hands!
I hope that my hair turned in a decent condition but I know that what I have lost never come back.

Now my hair is dry,thin, yellowish, the shedding is high and my temple receded...
I never used topicals. With Proscar good success, no much regrowth but good stability and shedding stopped.
With Avo at first (1 month) wonderfoul hair but then a disaster...
I continued this drug because I thought that I was in a normal shedding phase but now (1 year) my hairloss is worse.
Maybe is a dosage problem because I don't tolerate a high dose and my body respond with a "telogen effluvium" but I don't know how is the right dosage to me.
I'm not sure that 1 or 2 tabs/week are better than finasteride everyday...
So for me the experiment's time is ended and I'm back on finasteride.

by me the same the first 1-2Month with dutasteride
my Hair so great as never bevor
than the Hair get Month for Month Yellowisher and Hairs get thin -yellow all over the Head

i hope with finasteride this get better
under finasteride i had dark blond strong Hairs

and Water deposits in the Face Bloated face and Neck?

Timi,
at first I was very nervous and I experienced some water's retention but after 1 or two weeks the sides go away. But unforunately I experienced a "telogen effluvium" because the drug is too strong for me.

i hope that this go away and the Hair get better
and all Hair come back

by telogen effluvium is minoxidil good have i read in a Report

my Hairs arround the Head get today slowly Darker
the Front is darker but very thin and the site over the ears thin

I think minoxidil is no good to treat telogen effluviun (maybe only a low concentration 2%)...
Use Hydrocortisone buthyrrate (Locoidon) 3/week and Ell Cranell Apha (17 Alpha Estradiolo)

Smart idea Philly, just curious how can you cut up the proscar so you can take 1mg in the morning and .25 at night. I haven't got my proscar yet.
