Hi Bryan

I remember reading something a little while back about some vitamins having TOO touch a coating and therefore leaving the vitamin to be eventually excreted before it is even absorbed.

Given how potent our stomach acids can be I found this hard to believe and was perhaps written by someone pushing a capsule brand of their product (can't remember)

Do you think there might be any truth to this? Especially when it concerns the extended release pills that appear to have the extra hard coating on each pill?

Thanks

I always recommend that everybody chew-up their supplements, unless they are specifically designed to be time-release.

I've recounted that incident several times where my mother once had some prescription blood-pressure pills pass all the way through her intact. That made a tremendous impression on me. Ever since then, I tell everybody not to take chances: CHEW THEM UP, unless they're designed to be time-release.

But it appears as though the time release capsules have the hardest shell of all. Perhaps so they are digested slowly as their label advertises?

I just want to make sure I am not crapping out my hard earned moulah.

Frankly, I don't generally trust time-release formulations.

Pharmaceuticals undergo extensive dissolution testing. The exipient composition of most tablets is designed to rapidly disintegrate in water. Drop one in a glass of water if you have any doubt.
