Iv'e been trying to search for a thread that compiled info on all brands and forms of minoxidil and am yet to find one.
There are plenty of minoxidil products out there that claim to be more effective than the next

Some examples - Rogaine foam, Xandrox, Nanominox, Polaris labs, Spectral

I think this would be a good thread for us to quickly post which minoxidil each individual is using
and add if you have had good regrowth and/or maintained well

Was NW2.5, using Kirkland liquid minoxidil, now a NW1.5.
It's working great but itching/dandruff can get pretty bad at times, even with nizoral..

Ive used DR Lee's 5% and 6%Plus formulas and have had incredible regrowth myself. I avoided all generics due to there greasy cosmetic effects.

I'm still struggling with itching from minoxidil. I used to use the foam which doesn't irritate, but it's expensive and I think not as effective. So I tried to use the liquid to save money, BUT I had to use nizoral much more frequently to alleviate the itch, and nizoral isn't cheap. So it's a bit of a catch 22. I'm a bit leery of Dr. Lee's products.

JWM, Cassin, and others who have experience with Dr. Lee's products, can you tell me more about them? Looks like his minoxidil goes for 17 bucks or so, which is about the same as foam. Is there a benefit to Dr. Lee's over the foam?

Well for what it's worth, I got results with foam and it hardly irritated my skin. I do think though, that the results with liquid were better but I don't know if it's worth all the irritation. I think you should give it a try.

foam is definately "friendlier" on the scalp. generic minoxidil liquid is simplybrutal the more i think about it i cant believe anyone puts that sh*t on their head. the smell of it should tell you everything you need to know.

i found foam a pain in the *** though, pretty impossible to get good coverage - i.e ensure you get plenty on your head without using half the bottle.

the best options for a clean minoxidil with low alcohol/ppg (= no itching etc!) are:

nanominox
spectral dnc-l
dr lee's

there are a few others too.

I use Dr. Lee's PPG-free 5% minoxidil once a day in the evening; no itchies. I love Dr. Lee's products. Used Spectral-DNC in the past but am getting identical results with Dr. Lee's and it's much less expensive. My boyfriend would always complain about the smell of Spectral-DNC, anyway.

All I could ever smell was just the alcohol. You don't like the smell of alcohol?

Are you sure it's the alcohol and not the propylene glycol that irritates your skin?

You could try simply taking ordinary 5% Rogaine and leaving it uncovered for a while, letting a lot of the alcohol slowly evaporate. That would take a while, probably overnight or longer. You could speed it up considerably by pouring it into a shallow, flat container of some kind, and leaving it in the open air (put a paper towel or something over it, to keep the dust out of it). Depending on exactly how long you let it sit there, you'd have less and less alcohol as time goes by, and a higher and higher concentration of minoxidil dissolved in propylene glycol.

thanks for the tip im gonna go that actually if i cant order nanominox this week

im positive its the alcohol because i tried minoxidil without propylene glycol before and same thing

the thing is i have very minor sebborea dermatitis in the winter when it drys my skin and in the summer im good so the alcohol makes my skin dry as hell and it irritates my skin
