hey fellas,

so - if i want to make my minoxidil myself - what would be the best veichle to use and why ?
preferably id like to hear results from scientific studies.

also preferably oils as vehicles,
the twice daily alcohol on my scalp is making it too dry and inflamed which is not ideal.
i was thinking as a combo of pure aloe vera and olive/canola oil, question is if they'd mix good with the minoxidil powder and would deliver it deep into where it should go,

also - on that notion - if you know a trusted and decent supplier of pure minoxidil powder please tell.

continous use of alcohol over the skin is not good.

pure aloe vera gel can be a good alternative.

A lot of luck

r u sure about this ?

i mean - would the aloe vera really be a good vehicle and make the minoxi get absorbed well enough in the skin ?
now - what about when its mixed with oil of some sort ?

If you use aloe vera gel and water you would need some type of detergent to mix well together.

what about oils .. ?
olive oil,
canola oil,
(well any edible or skin oil basically)

would they dissolve the minoxi good enough so it'll penetrate the skin ?\

Aloe or emu oil aren't good vehicles. It is what it is unfortunately.

Emu oil didn't work at all as a vehicle for RUM and aloe just doesn't penetrate all the layers or the skin as seen by various studies that you can research.

emu oil didnt worked for RUM,
that doesnt mean it wont work for minoxi..

im asking about minoxi mate...
i was just being told that oils will be a good vehicle,
so if you say that they wont - why ?

I am graduated chemist

There is a lot of information about antiinflammatory issues with aloe or jojoba.
Example
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24028970
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22446321
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15629254
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24442052

BTW minoxidil needs microemulsion process to increase absortion

please man - can you elaborate ?
ive got no idea in chemistry,
i know about the antiinflammatory issues with aloe or jojoba, but its not the question ...
im thinking of getting pure minoxidil powder, and than mix it with some vehicle, other than alcohol,,,
now - i would guess that there are two important things to look at -
1 - the ability of the vehicle to dissolve the minoxidil powder,
2 - the ability of the vehicle to penetrate the skin, and therfor - deliver the minoxidil deeper.

so therefor the question would be -
what will be the best vehicles to do that ?

important: i preffer that the vehicle will be something thats actually good and easy for the skin, like 'castor oil', or aloe vera or even a mix of such,
the problem is that - alcohol - 2 times a day - is really not that good... i makes the skin dry and remove its top layers, so if you go out to the sun its a problem, or even if some dirt or anything touches the skin it can get infected.

side question:
i've read on hlh that chlorind dioxide (DMI or DMSO) has much greater ability to penetrate the skin than alcohol, and thus give better results with the minoxidil,
is this true ? - i mean - to what limit ? - i mean - how the results will differ ?
also - how will CD affect the skin ?

really appriciate your help,
thanks !

apparently minoxidil has poor solubility in water and ethanol-it's soluble up to 4 % ie a maximum of 4 grams will dissolve in 100 ml of ethanol-its solubility may be increased by acidifying the solution
according to the european pharmacopoeia; it is soluble In the methanol and propylene glycol- this means that for every gram of minoxidil one would need between 10 and 30 ml of solvent. propylene glycol absorbs well through the skin so this would be suitable-you should take 30ml propylene glycol per gram of minoxidil-minoxidil may be more soluble than this in propylene glycol

microemulsion with minoxidil

DMSO is a old "friend" in hairloss forums, but be cautious if mixed with minoxidil.

I am with you, continous alcohol aplication on skin can be bad.

hey mate,
the links are broken (first 2)

what do you mean that DMSO is an old "friend" ??

what do you think about using only propylene glycol as a vehicle (meaning PG+minoxidil and thats it) ?

++++
also - how about mixing some minoxidil powder (or liquid maybe) with retin a gel (or cream) ?

I understand that the system broke the links, but you can look for spumil in the web.

In forums we talked about DMSO as a good system to reach inside the skin years ago. You can use the search option.
If I remember correctly minoxidil and retinA is inestable when we use together.

PG is a common ingredient, with alcohol and water in minoxidil.

Come on guys is it too much to ask to write 2-3 senteces thatll describe what youre reffering to ?
Please im desperate here

Jacob whats nanosomes and how and why should they be combined with minoxidil ?
all i could find about them in google is that theyre really really tiny things that can enter the skin easily.

Armando jose
all i could find about spumil was something called espumil which looks like a laundery gel or some detergent, please - explain to me what are you talking about.

So dmso is a good vehicle, but how will it affect the skin? It is a strong stuff isnt it ?

And lastly - what do you think about using pure pg as a vehicle ?
it should be easy on the skin isnt it ?

thank you all in advance for your time and help
i really Appriciate that
yours
the junkie
