Hello fellow Shedders, yet another introduction thread. After some lurking I'm aware these threads are generic by standard, so I'll try to keep it direct. First off, it feels great knowing there's a community of guys interested in the future medical developments of hairloss treatments, as well as offering advice in general.

I'm assuming I'm around a Norwood 2.5, maybe you guys can tell me. My crown looks loyal thus far. This hairline hasn't moved for around 5 years since I was 19, but I think it's better safe than sorry and should begin treatments. I'm going to be trying to begin finasteride this year as soon as possible, but my dermatologist is on vacation and when I spoke about hairloss to my slick Norwood 7 bald GP, he didn't even bother taking a look and changed subject right away after saying "you might be, who knows?". I trust him overall, but these dudes don't realize overall health includes your mental state and the devastating impact of looking 20 years older than you should. I'll buy a dermaroller in the meantime and consider minoxidil after about a year of Finasteride.

Could you guys also more or less speculate how many grafts I would need to close those risen corners? I'd assume no more than 1500. Looking forward to giving you dudes updates once I begin treatments and help out other newbies.

a hair transplant without knowing whether or not you respond to medication is suicide. You need to try finasteride for at least 18 months before even considering a hair transplant. Any surgeon that would agree to perform a hair transplant on you without previous success with meds should be shot like a wild pig.

Thanks for the reply boys. Yeah I didn't plan on it within the next 2 years, was just wondering what closing those gaps in my temple would look like in terms of graphs needed. Starting finasteride is a nice excuse to get that rainy day fund started when I may want to go under the knife in the future however.

I was under the impression that people can still get a transplant even without necessarily having hairloss. I've seen a few before/afters where people just didn't like their mature hairline and got it closed up. However I agree with being on meds being a necessary prerequisite for grafts.
