Been on nizoral, is it time to introduce minoxidil?

I made a thread previously which in my mind did not properly show what I am seeing in terms of hair loss. I have attached better pics (some taken as recently as tonight), and would like everyone's opinion. I have been on nizoral for about a month, but think it may be time for minoxidil. I am afraid to start something like propecia just yet, but may take the plunge if things continue to get worse. All comments appreciated!

Your hair looks pretty good to me. That being said, I am not going to say you are not losing your hair, you would know better than I would. I think minoxidil is a good place to start. Just be prepared for a shed. It might not be bad or even noticeable, but just be prepared just in case. Keep finasteride as an option though just in case things start getting bad.

Just gonna basically echo what Notcool said. Judging by your photos alone, I really don't think you have all that much to worry about. Your crown looks really thick, and I am jealous because that's my biggest problem area right now. Your hairline resembles sort of an Alec Baldwin/Johnny Depp strong Norwood 2 with minor temple and corner recession into a mature hairline, which is NOT balding. That's not to say that somewhere down the road you won't start balding, it's always something to keep an eye on. Just document your hairline and crown every few months and see if you see any difference. Right now, though, I would say go out and enjoy life with your full head of hair, big guy.

even if you had male pattern baldness I don't like minoxidil alone for situations like yours because it does not stop hair loss long term and only gives an illusion of thicker hair. If you ever experience male pattern baldness I would only take finasteride 1mg daily

thanks for the response, i apologize for not responding sooner it has been a very hectic last couple of weeks. Over the last couple of years the temple recession has definitely grown, i am 25 now and i am not used to being able to see so easily through my hairline and it obviously concerns me. its hard to describe but it feels like my crown is definitely thinning as well, but i am not sure at which point i would need to start minoxidil. I have started to take better care of my hair and hopefully i can retain what i have now over the next decade or so or even longer. I think that when i do decide to get on minoxidil, i will be buzzing my hair to better access the damage and then aggressively treat the bald spots.

does anyone else have opinions besides the current posters? Once again thanks everyone for responding i appreciate the feedback.

I don't think you're balding, but your hair is your hair to treat. I foolishly shaved my head when I first started treatment. It was different because I had never done it before. However, it almost made me feel naked sometimes. It showed off my slightly receded hairline, and someone at work actually said, "Wow, your hair looks like it's receding in the front." I just wanted to smack the crap out of this dude, and reply with my Schwarzenegger in 'Kindergarten Cop' line, "...Thanks for the tip." It was also a wake up call as to what I would actually look like as a bald guy. Needless to say I was shocked as to how much I hated what I looked like as a bald guy because I have a big friggin head. That being said, I think it actually helped me avoid shedding. I've been treating now for 4 months, and haven't had any shedding thus far -- knock on wood. I don't know if there's any correlation there, but I can't say it hurt.
