Hello everyone I'm new to this forum, I want to share my story on my hair lost. It all started back when i was a little girl I been noticing I been losing large amounts of my hair just in the back. It started getting bigger and bigger so my mom took me to see a dermatologist and he could not figure what it was so I was sent to a specialist and they started to treat me with injections all over the baldness went for months still no improvement. So i gave up i been wearing my same hairstyle since a little girl now that I'm older I want to wear my hair different and i can't because of the large amounts of hair I lost. I want help but don't know what to do i miss my hair so much.

Did you ever get a scalp biopsy? Just looking at that it may be a scarring alopecia of some sort... in which case it will not grow back

No i never got that done.

You may want to do that... you hair loss at predominately the nape is very atypical. I’m guessing the specialist you saw was thinking you had alopecia areata which is he gave you steroid injections. The fact that those didn’t help and you nape area looks scarred I’m thinking something like lichen planus... but I’m by no means an expert.

If it does end up being a scarring alopecia you may be able to get it under control with something like plaquenil or doxycycline and then be evaluated for a transplant. Also rogaine 5% may help but I wouldn’t have too high expectations.
